Teacher Training
STAFFORD HUB
Growing our own
Do you want to inspire, motivate, support, guide, and share your passion with young people?
Then train to teach through The OAKS (rated outstanding by OFSTED) and Keele University, and you could do it where the learning happens; in schools.
Apply through the Stafford Hub; this means you will complete at least one of your placements in one of the 8 high schools in the local area. There are now bursaries available of £26,000 for all trainees with a 2:2 or higher in the highest priority subjects.
The Programme:
The programme is run in partnership between the OAKS, Keele University and high schools; course participants achieve the academic award at the University at the same time as they follow a school-based programme. It is a School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) programme; delivered by Partnership school subject experts and experienced teacher educators.
It is an innovative and intensive one year course during which trainees will complete both the Teaching Standards, gaining QTS certification and obtain a Keele University PGCE at either Level 6 or 7.
For more details follow the OAKS and Keele University links by clicking on their emblems above. For more details on the schools currently part of the Stafford Hub click on each individual school’s emblem above.
Bursaries:
The ITT bursaries, scholarships and School Direct (salaried) grants for the academic year 2018 to 2019 are available on GOV.UK and Get Into Teaching. Here is a short extract from their website:
“We have increased bursaries to £26,000 for all trainees with a 2:2 or higher in the highest priority subjects: physics, languages, chemistry, biology, computing, geography and classics. For maths trainees we are offering a £20,000 bursary followed by two additional early-career payments of £5,000 each (£7,500 if teaching in specified areas in England) in their third and fifth year of teaching, if they have taught in a state school in England since completing their ITT course”
